Bausano coextruders

Solutions for multilayer extrusion of technical polymers

Coextrusion solutions for technical polymers

Bausano designs and manufactures coextruders that can be integrated into complete extrusion lines for single layer and multilayer applications. Coextrusion makes it possible to combine multiple materials in a single product, while maintaining control over output, interlayer adhesion and dimensional stability. Bausano coextruders process a wide range of thermoplastic materials and technical polymers: PVC, PU, PE, PP, PC, PA, PMMA, PSU, PBT, LCP, PLG, PEEK, FEP, ETFE, PVDF. The configuration is defined according to the material, viscosity and thickness of the layer to be applied. Compared to single layer solutions, coextrusion allows manufacturers to optimise raw material use, integrate additional functions and reduce secondary processing. Bausano supplies both the single coextruder and the complete integration into the line, with coordinated management of temperatures and outputs.

Bausano COEX E-GO range

The Bausano COEX E-GO range is designed to cover different output and plant configuration requirements, with screw diameters from 25 to 35 mm and L/D ratios from 25 to 30, according to the material and the thickness of the layer to be applied.
Output varies according to the processed polymer, reaching up to 80 kg/h on PE and up to 17 kg/h on PVC, with motor powers between 3 and 22 kW and total installed power up to 30 kW.

The configurations include up to four heating and cooling zones to ensure stable thermal control, precise melt management and flow continuity, even in multilayer applications with reduced thicknesses.
The COEX E-GO range stands out for:

  • Simplified integration on new or existing lines
  • Stable output control for thin or decorative layers
  • Customisable configuration according to the processed material
  • Compatibility with multichannel heads for pipe and profile applications

Coextrusion applications

Coextrusion is used when the final product requires multiple materials with different functions within the same component. In the pipe sector, it enables the production of multilayer pipes, the insertion of coextruded identification stripes for water transport, or the integration of functional layers with different mechanical or chemical properties. In the profile sector, it allows the combination of materials with different hardness or colour, such as window profiles with coextruded gaskets, technical elements with surface layers resistant to UV or abrasion, or components for construction and industrial applications.

In advanced applications, such as automotive, medical or chemical, coextrusion makes it possible to integrate high performance materials such as PVDF, PEEK or FEP, improving thermal, chemical and mechanical resistance.
The process also makes it possible to optimise raw material use, employing technical materials only in the functional layers and standard or recycled materials in the inner layers. This approach reduces the cost per kg produced and improves the overall efficiency of the line. Coordinated output management ensures uniform layer thickness and repeatable results, even in continuous production.
